‘Why’ to ‘I Bother’
Start of a new year, the advice circulates around tidying and organizing and having a ‘feng shui’ living space to greet the new year and welcome good energy. My sister sent me a great article from Pinterest about this. Good reminders about how having a clean space invites good things. The article suggested moving 27 things, whether that is to clean under, around, or move the item to the recycle bin (27 they say, because 2+7=9, and 9 is good luck). It is also suggested to clean the front entry of your home. This symbolizes welcoming opportunities and good energy. Cleaning mirrors and windows, which reflect the world you see through the windows as well as reflecting the person you see in the mirror – yourself.
It’s all about being fresh and starting off the year on a good note. Setting the year up for success. These are all subtle ways of setting intentions. If you do all of these actions to attract and manifest a happy year, it goes without saying that you intend the year to be a good and happy one.
All of this reminded me of something I heard in an audio a while back. It might have been something on social media. The energy of ‘why bother.’ This was talked about as the energy that comes as a result of someone not taking action. if you are not taking action, it could be interpreted as ‘why bother’ to the Universe. And then the Universe could respond right back with ‘why bother.’ No new opportunities or manifestations need appear. It struck me at the time, because it was true. I noticed that with the garden at my house, I was really wanting daffodils to grow in the spring. I could visualize how I wanted this to look. We had done a reno on our home, and because we wanted to ‘move up’ to a property more suited to our family, I really had a ‘why bother’ view about planting the daffodils. We hoped to be moving anyway. But after a couple more years… and then hearing about that ‘why bother’ energy, I changed my view a bit.
We could be living here for a while, I would enjoy seeing the daffodil bulbs come up every year while we are here. So in the winter a year ago, I planted a row along the length of our front fence. For years I wanted more Christmas lights up. We have just had lights along the railing of our deck each holiday season. This year, I bought a few more lights. I wound them around that front fence that the daffodil bulbs are lying dormant. I bothered to run a long extension cord and set up the timer for them. I bought a string of lights for the back yard as well, and because I did, the boys surprised me one day with setting it up for me around the back yard.
We also bothered to put up the framed Canucks Jersey that was gifted to my husband, with three signed photos of players lined up below. I have a few more clean up jobs to do in the yard, that I have now nicknamed my ‘why bother’ jobs – one of which is to clean a little boat we have that is quite a mess and needs to be made presentable- even though we may not use it in the next few months.
Even though I didn’t acknowledge in my own mind that it was just a matter of ‘why bother,’ it’s clear that this is really the energy behind it. I decided I don’t want it to come across that we can’t be bothered. I also think if I live in a state of limbo – such as well, hopefully we would be able to move soon, so no need to do this or that, but then there’s stagnation and energy isn’t moving – which means that things don’t flow in your life! So I determined that I can’t ‘manifest’ a more suitable property for us, if I’m not bothered about things in the home we are in (and by no means should the reader take this to mean our home is a mess, haha, I do love this home).
So, for the sake of good energy and the Universe, I certainly can and will bother.
Sending Love,
Devon

Very good points (opening your doors to the universe, moving out of the stagnant energy)! I think I will ‘bother’. What a great resolution too. ❤️
Thanks Meg! And thanks for sending that article to me!
