5am for the sake of creativity.
When can I fit in creative time? I NEED more hours in the day!
I have struggled with finding time where I can be creative and work on projects I want to work on. I work at a job 5 days a week, have 2 boys that are both in hockey and my husband and I have a construction business that I do the books for. Between all this and trying to keep our house somewhat tidy and organized, I have been really antsy for any art time, writing time and planning my creative empire.
I am a morning person -I was born at 8:08 in the morning on the 8th day of September (I did read once that the time of day you were born is the time of day you will most appreciate. Is this true? I haven’t done a poll on this yet… but I am for sure an AM person). Because of this, getting up early is an option as I don’t (typically) have motivation in the evenings.
I already get up at 6am to get ready for my day. For a long time, I did get up at 5am for a few weeks at a time throughout the year to do the Beachbody ‘Insanity’ workout. It was a great way to start the day, but it does take the full hour. But enter the silly ‘roadblocks’ that minds like to throw at us: If I am getting up at 5am and not doing some kind of exercise, then I will be cold sitting in my jammies /sleepwear from 5-6am. So would I really be productive? Would I be able to focus on my creativity?
Enter Pinterest (I love Pinterest). I found a ‘Pin’ of a short little exercise. A Monday to Friday regiment of jumping jacks, squats, push-ups, planks, sit-ups, that may take 4-8 minutes. Perfect.
So I get up, get the blood flowing, which also helps my motivation and energy level, and then I can do whatever creative thing I want for the rest of my hour. This is my new routine. I am more than thrilled to have this time to write this blog, draw a picture, compile my Instagram, or a storyboard.
