Pursuing
My last week at a glance:
Revisiting my Mindvalley Michael Beckwith course – finished up the round of lessons again.
Making notes and checklists in my website-specific notebook, such as: the quotes for prints and cards – email to confirm if the cards included envelopes (no, so request new quote). List of what I info I would need for someone to complete a purchase request for the shop. Adding to my list of what packing material is needed.. and confirm I have the correct sizing on these items. My eyes wandering aimlessly through the Canada Post website getting nowhere about how I can determine what the darn cost is for 3 shipping options. Go in to Canada Post finally on my lunch break. (It’s amazing what can cause me to procrastinate on this task: ‘it’ll take too long and eat up my whole break, there’s always a line-up’ / ‘what if they insist they can’t give a quote without telling them the address it’s going to be mailed to.’ / ‘they’ll have too many options and then it will just make the task more difficult to choose the best shipping method.’)
I’ll need a privacy policy – in order to create one, I need a business name. Sign up for a Stripe account for credit card processing for the webshop. Get partway through the set up process and now’s the time to set up the bank account. The bank accounts going to need the business registry documents and that needs the confirmation on the business name too.. so go through the picking-the-business-name-and-backup-selection-of-names-if-I-don’t-get-my-first-choice process. This has a roughly 10 business day wait for confirmation.
Met with Dylan who is writing the book I am illustrating to talk timeline and see what he’s written and talk storyboard.
Look up Children’s book grants online and get distracted stumbling on Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Google Search: Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Google Search: Bologna Italy/ images / map. Google Search: accommodation Bologna Italy. Google Search: Flights to Italy.
Saturday evening social time supper and visit for the Stanley Cup finals hockey game – game 1.
Spent Sunday with my friend Holly at Butchart Gardens for a picnic. She tells me she has read a book called the Happiness of Pursuit. And it’s the pursuit of one’s goals that is the happiness peace. Not necessarily the end result or making it to completion (then you can get into that ‘now what’ space).
Follow up call with Dylan about his discussion with the book printers and the packages they offer for self publishing and what they help with.
And of course, work, family time, driving my son to and from his job, all that stuff. And it’s true that happiness comes from ‘doing.’ Getting excited about something, working towards something you want to do. The week sounds busy but it’s all things that make me happy in the doing of them, and excited about what I am working towards. Being inspired to pursue a project is certainly key to my happiness.
Sending Love,
Devon
