Lazy Napper
Sleeping is one of my favourite things. I’m convinced that I was a cat in a former life. I’ve also always felt that my spirit animal is an eagle, for reasons unexplainable, just a ‘knowing’ – but as far as being an energy level match, and being cozy at home, the cat really resonates with me.
I’ve realized lately that when someone asks if I had a good weekend and asks what I did, that if the answer includes at least one nap, then I’ve had a good weekend. But I don’t tell people this. If I have told you my weekend activities included a nap, consider yourself a very close friend.
I would obviously sound like I am an old lady, boring and lazy. The first two don’t bother me all that much. I am not overly concerned if people think I am boring, because I know all the things I enjoy to do, and I don’t consider it boring. But Lazy. That one gets me.
It gets me as I worry that it’s true. I like to rest. I feel like I need to rest. And I do feel like it’s productive rest.. I attempt – and sometimes am successful at meditating (before falling asleep), or I visualize, or think about creative projects. In a lot of ways, I feel like I do a lot of things in my days. And on the opposite side, I also feel like there is a lot I don’t do, and don’t do enough of stuff I want to do. It’s a dilemma. I don’t have a completed book to show progress that way. I have slowly built up a portfolio… and have moved even slower past some blocks to just doing ‘the thing’ and getting my website shop set up (coming soon though!)
I’m forever thinking that I can and should do more, but I need the downtime. I used to feel extremely guilty if I rested. I’ve mostly gotten over that. I embrace the rest now. But the feeling that I should be doing more hasn’t gone away. It’s probably my way of making sure I keep doing something. My souls way of saying: Keep advancing. Rest but don’t stop. Rest but keep doing what you love. Rest and recharge but always aim for more and better. I do think the recharging is good for the creativity.
Sending Love,
Devon
