Spring. Break.

It’s happened that every spring break, there is something to do with hockey in our break. Vancouver tournaments many times in March. Last year it was Seattle. My husband is more flexible with his work, and loves hockey, so he is never going to miss it. I have been able to join in each spring break, even if it’s for a portion of the trip.

This year, Owen’s team made it to their hockey U13 provincials in Aldergrove. I went over with them on Saturday. It’s also been the most beautiful sunny weather, so that has made it feel like what would be typical of later-season ‘spring’ hockey. The team fundraised money this year, which allowed them to plan some team meals. It’s been a really nice mix of social time for the kids and parents, and a game each day for the kids.

We always find that doing something for even two days that isn’t our typical ‘schedule’ makes us immediately forget which day of the week it is. That’s what I found this trip. We cooked some breakfasts in our hotel kitchen, and had nothing of our regular routine to attend to. Our older son has been home with the dog, preferring to stay and ‘chill.’

I returned today, walking on the ferry to come home to ‘the Island.’ My friend Holly picked me up and we spent the most amazing afternoon in the beautiful sun walking around Butchart Gardens and enjoyed an iced coffee on the patio.

It’s felt like such a nice little mini break. And I wasn’t even away that long. My job is busy this time of year with ‘tax time,’ and people wanting their investment slips, so I didn’t want to be away too long and have a mountain of work to come back to. It’s the best of both worlds, with having a break for a few days away, a short week at work to make sure everything is under control and then another weekend. And you know it’s really felt like a break when you can’t keep track of what day of the week it is. Of course I know it’s blog day, so it must be Tuesday. 🤓. Happy spring to you!

Sending Love,

Devon
