New Year

Happy New Year, friends! Looking forward to an amazing 2021.

I had close to 2 weeks off over Christmas, which I enjoyed so much. I love being home with my family and having a nice balance of down time as well as productive time around the house. Always on my Christmas break, I remember how much I love reading. I even secretly wish that I could just stay home all year and read books. Reading is a pleasure that I don’t allow much time for during the rest of the year. I am not one to make ‘resolutions,’ but I do plan to read a lot more.

2020. What a year. We had a trip to LA late January and into February. We went for the younger boy to play hockey. That was an amazing trip. He played at the LA kings training facility in El Segundo (see blog ‘2020 Thus Far on June 30 of 2020). We went to an LA kings hockey game. We went to Disneyland and Legoland.

I created a tribute video with the help of many others for the grad class of our local high school, the high school that I had my 20 year reunion from in 2020. Frances Kelsey Secondary. This video is on the YouTube channel, created for the purpose of housing this video to be shared: DevonMcFaddenArt

I continued to work, paint, blog, and get my kids out for runs or walks regularly through the spring and summer.

The boys and I visited my sister and her family in their new to them home close to Vancouver. We loved our time spent with them exploring their new neighbourhood.

My work sadly saw lots of change with beloved coworkers leaving, although I happily ended up with the position I was working towards for the last couple of years. I started my course towards my assistant licensing.

And during all of this, a global pandemic raged throughout the world. The biggest upset to emotions and what everyone would consider the ‘norm’ of our own little corners of the world. So much fear and struggle. It was a tough year for so many people. In the spring, the fear was at its peak for me. But I would say I made the best of it. Overall, I have nothing to complain about. It is not lost on me how fortunate I am. I would even say I had a good year. Yes there were challenges, but what year or life doesn’t have that?

Wishing you a Happy 2021!

Sending Love,

Devon
