Since having started posting my work multiple times per week, earlier this year, one of the strongest feelings is a sense of relief. Sharing my work and this writing weekly, means people know that I enjoy art work now and what my goals are. It always felt like a hidden piece of me before.
I don’t go around talking about myself. Those awful ‘getting to know you questions’ in a work setting like “tell us something we don’t know about you,” as if you are really going to learn my secrets. Writing is more enjoyable. It is liberating when you can be ‘you’ and do what you enjoy, just as the quote above says, you have no master except your own soul. This quote can definitely be applied to the practice of making art as well.
I feel like when that sense of relief comes, it means good things are going to happen. The barriers are coming down. I am more aligned with my true purpose.
With relief comes a certain calmness. (I also found this once I had my Will done a year and a half ago! Finally!)
“The mind is like water. When it is turbulent, it’s difficult to see. When it’s calm, everything becomes clear.” – Prasad Mahes
“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.”
Sharing my art was scary and I am so relieved to have gotten past that.
“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” W.B. Yeats
Now that the barriers are down and I have a better feeling of calm, I can let my senses find my magic.
What learning did your relief bring? (With my Will, it was – why didn’t I do this years before?)
hugs,
Devon
