Creative Director: Look
I Create: Creative Director of My Life.
As I set out on my morning walk, I had a sense that I would come across an energy. Not that I would come across a person, but some ‘being.’
Every other morning, on my morning walk, Calvin (my dog) and I, saw others out. A man and his dog at a distance almost every day, someone else waiting for the early morning bus, the baker arriving to the bakery. This morning, however, we didn’t see any person out, other than commuters driving by.
We arrived at our field, our morning destination. I always look up, it has been a ‘truth’ of my life, the knowing to always look up. I saw something at the very top of the large tree, way up high. It was an eagle. I got out my camera to zoom in, so I could be sure. And there it was. An eagle, which I’ve always considered to be my spirit animal. We meandered around the field, Calvin rolling around in the grass, sniffing everything, munching on some tall weeds and grass at the edge of the lawn. I kept watching the eagle. It simply sat there. We stayed longer than normal so I could watch it for a while. Sat on the boulders to see it.
As I took a few more pictures and headed up the drive again, I looked up in front of me and at the very height of another tree, appeared to be another speck of a large bird. Zooming in again, I confirmed another eagle, way above us. I took this one in, with gratitude for noticing them, and looked back to the other to see it fly away off, over the lake. This next one followed shortly after. Away they went. Mornings are magic like that. It makes you feel as though they were just there for you. We didn’t see anyone else on our walk back either. The two eagles were the energy, the living beings, that I could somehow sense.
I always look up and around, because it seems that by noticing, wonderful things happen to be there. Looking up is when you see an amazing sky, a unique cloud…. or an eagle. With this reality, that we create our lives, our lives don’t just ‘happen’ to us, it’s become more evident why I’ve always been so obsessed with looking up. We attract things to us that we appreciate, and by looking up and noticing natures miracles, it brings to us more appreciation for what is around us. Sometimes I’ll get the little nudge to ‘look down,’ and I’ll find a 4 leaf clover, I have found multiple in the last few years, or some lucky coin or something meaningful, looking up at me from the ground.
I’ve also noticed that when I am too enveloped in thought, a bird whizzes by, a humming bird, a robin, even a blue jay and a woodpecker. And these are my reminders to pull back my perspective and see what’s around me. Be aware. It’s the birds that bring me back to the present. To awareness.
When you look, you notice. And you become aware.
Until next week,
Devon
