Creative Director: Mapping

I Create: Creative Director of my Life.

If you want to get somewhere, you look at a map. When you look at a map, there are two things you likely already know:

-where you are now

-the place that you want to go

Then the map tells you (shows you) how to get there.

The goal of being the Creative Director of my life is specific to the journey or the route I will take to reach my destination. This is not the destination. I have one or multiple goals I want to accomplish – or ‘x’ on the map (destinations) and being my life’s creative director means that I decide which route and which pace I will go to get myself there. There are a lot of elements that will determine my or your success as a Creative Director – Intention, Will Power, Self Respect, Outlook… (we’ll get into that and more).

What is important to map your way, though, first – is knowing or finding your destination(s) if you don’t know or are unsure. Do you have a ‘True North’? This is what I define as that unwavering thing. That uncompromising thing you want for your life or that you know is right for you and meant for you. Remember what I said 2 weeks ago, (The Questions), forget what you think you are capable of, but what do you want?

If you don’t have a True North yet, or doubt yourself too much to admit it out loud, even to yourself (speaking from experience), start with a vision board. People often put a good handful of things they want or desire on their vision board, so start there.

With a destination decided on, we can start to look at what we can do to get there.

The point of a vision board is to allow yourself to visualize the things that you want in your life, the things that you want to make up your life experience. Because it’s right in front of your face, in a place you would see daily, the idea is to envision yourself with those desires fulfilled. We have amazing capacity to bring about in our life, what we put our attention on.

I’ve followed along with teachings by Regan Hillyer, who is a manifestation teacher. One of the things she explains is that what we want to bring about into our experience is 80% internal work and 20% external. It’s a lot of inner work. It’s mostly inner work. If we adapt our attitude, improve our gratitude and consciousness, that’s of huge benefit to the quality of our lives. 20%, you still have to take action steps. Do something to set your intention in motion to bring about the events in your life that you wish for. ‘Intention provides the vibration of willingness,’ says Michael Beckwith. With a vibration of willingness, we allow good things to come to us, we are willing for positive things to appear in our life.

Deciding on your journey, means looking at what can I do internally, to improve myself? And also, what action steps could I do to put myself in the position to reach my goal? This work is what we can creatively direct. This work is the point. Everyone can have a True North or an ‘x-marks-the-spot’ on their map, but if the journey is ill-thought out or if you pull into a rest stop or get lost on a detour along the way, the destination may never be reached.

This bring us to Intention.

Until next week,

Devon
