Start Again
Here we are again, the beginning of a new year. So it has me feeling, as usual, that we reset on a lot of things, and start over.
Starting over in the sense of mindsets or goals. A time to decide again, what kind of person do I want to be? What improvements can I make? How many books do I want to read? Is there anything I specifically want to accomplish this year?
I don’t like the term ‘resolution’ but I think there is always room for improvement, and I think if you don’t decide about things you want in your life, then life just keeps chugging along without intention and then the opportunity of magical things just pass you by. I have noticed this from experience. With no intentions of good things happening, or seeing opportunities, then you don’t really notice good things in front of you, when you are just plugging along, ‘getting by’ in life.
I am excited about 3 books in particular that I have here. I have started a book called ‘Arete’ by Brian Johnson which was a gift from a friend! It is about being Heroic. It’s quite like a little bible (it’s got a hard cover, quite thick and has a ribbon bookmark), with each page or two being a new chapter – all of them little lessons or insights into making your life ‘heroic:’ purposeful and filled with grace. It’s one to really savour each section and contemplate on it.
The next book I am loving is ‘Power vs. Force’ by David R. Hawkins. I heard of this book when listening to a lesson thru Mindvalley. I was in the bookstore for a few gifts before Christmas, and so I bought this one as a gift to myself (to Devvie, love Dev😅). This book was mentioned because of the ‘Map of Consciousness’ described within: the different emotions and where they land on a scale of ‘energy.’ Anything below 200 being negative, and over 200 being positive emotions. I started reading this one and it’s been very difficult to put down. I didn’t really know what it was going to be about. I will share more later, but overall, it’s about human consciousness and also how (surprisingly and fascinatingly) kinesiology comes into play. These books really give a feeling of hope for what can be accomplished. Fascinating and inspiring. The next one is a Gabor Mate book from my sister that I am looking forward to diving into- The Myth of Normal.
It’s appropriate to be inspired and excited about a few new books at the start of a new year. It has me thinking about what I want my normal to be, tweaking the mindset still more, allowing magic, creativity and opportunities in. Getting acquainted with inspiring people (these authors), is a reminder that it’s not so outside the realm of possibility – to attract an amazing life.
Thank you for reading, I wish you all a magical and inspirational 2024!
Sending Love,
Devon
