I Create: Creative Director of My Life.

I’ve mentioned a few weeks ago that books can be a distraction for me, just because I get so wrapped into the story and must keep reading.

A practice for my mental health has been shielding myself from things. Like negativity, or actions of others that resemble insanity. I’ve found my habit of getting up early every day to paint, also allows me some time, before everyone is up, to review my rotation of books that I am always reading. The ‘self-help’ type books. The quotes and passages in them to help set my mind in a helpful direction for my day. These books, I need around me all the time – these aren’t the ‘distraction books,’ such as the novels, but my ‘mental health’ books.

I review something in any of these books multiple times a day. It shifts my mind, from what could be fear, or all the negative stuff ‘out there,’ to return back to myself and focus on what I want to and can improve. I also keep a few notes on my phone with some thoughts that I can read at a glance, as I can’t bring a stack of books everywhere. 😄

I saw a little clip of someone recently, saying that, when our worlds were smaller, we only knew events and news locally. And in some ways, we aren’t meant to be inundated with all the terrible things out in the world. All the negativity. Our bodies only have the capacity to take in so much of it. Too much can bring us down and really affect us and our energy. I don’t often watch the news, because of this. I have said it before, that as selfish as it can feel sometimes, for me anyway, I feel the need to shield myelf from a lot of it.

I think the farther up the Map (of consciousness) that I progress (reference to David R Hawkins work), then my energy will be more powerful. My positive energy will be more expansive and could push out over negativity, rather than it encroaching on my energy.

When creating the life of my dreams, my primary focus is my mindset and setting up my energy for success.
