I scroll fairly frequently through Pinterest for things of interest such as positivity quotes that I find, or beautiful scenic scapes and homes, and nice outfits from searching how to put an outfit together. I have recently discovered some quotes and thoughts by artists, which meant I had to start a new Pin board to save them. This new board is such a source of joy and inspiration reading through them. Maybe it’s because this time of year, I am just finishing loads of business bookkeeping (yay, taxes are out of the way!), and I am also studying my course for work, that I have been feeling antsy to do more, creatively. I wanted to share a few.
Marc Chagall: “If I create form my heart, nearly everything works; if from my head, almost nothing.”
Robert Bresson: “Make visible what, without you, might perhaps never have been seen.”
Louise Nevelson: “Art is everywhere except it has to pass through a creative mind.”
Maya Angelou: “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”
Kurt Vonnegut: “Go into the arts. I’m not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
Anni Albers: “Art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness.”
Pablo Picasso: “It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.”
Now that my tax work is done, I just have to squeeze the creative time between Canadian Securities studies. Oh, and family, general house up-keep, meal making and exercise. 🥴😜
I feel comforted when I read these thoughts, they are so in line with what I feel, and the life I am always working to create. I feel in good company and it reassures me that I just have to continue being true to me. I’m still working on my ‘style’ and listening to my heart and intuition is my True North which cannot lead my astray. I just tell myself I will get there eventually, just keep going.
Sending Love,
Devon
