That 1 Degree

There is a lesson that a ship – or a plane, changing course by 1 degree can, of course, result in a big change in destination. So then, naturally, this is the teaching trying to impress the impact of an incremental change that can result in massive improvements to one’s life. All about slow and steady. Slight, but consistent. It doesn’t have to be daunting or some major life-shift.

As I wrote recently, I was reading Power vs. Force (David R. Hawkins). I finished the book and started again at the beginning right away. Cover to cover. I am almost finished the second read. It has the ‘map of consciousness’ which outlines the energy levels of each level of consciousness so you can determine where you are now, and where you want to go. Just the awareness of this can have the effect of feeling hopeful to ‘improve’ that mindset and perspective. Hope: the idea that the future can be better than the present. (Note: I do love my life – but improvement is always a good thing too!)

The numbers in the guide in the book, are explained to be ‘logarithmic’ – level 300 is 10 to the power of 300. “The difference in power level, for instance, between 361.0 and 361.1 is very significant and capable of transforming both one’s life and one’s effect on the world.” (Page 123) Pretty powerful. I explain this in order to give context to this:

He goes on to explain that with nonlinear dynamics.. “this describes the manner in which a minuscule variation in a pattern of inputs can result in a very significant change in the eventual output. This is because the repetition of a slight variation over time results in a progressive change of pattern, or, sometimes, even a leap to a new harmonic when the increment increases logarithmically. The effect of the minute variation becomes amplified until it eventually affects the whole system and an entire new energy pattern evolves…” and goes on further to say, “when the mind is dominated by a negative world view, the direct result is a repetition of minute changes in energy flows to the various body organs.” This comes from page 237, in the Wellness and the Disease Process chapter, but of course applies to more than physical wellness. The goal, of course, is to make sure that the thoughts dominating my mind are a positive world view. This is where will power comes in. To interrupt any negative world view. To gradually, aim for that one degree shift in perception. If we can improve our world view, what we are doing is improving our level of consciousness, which is aligning with powerful attractor patterns. And this is why, even that 1 degree, is super important.
