Peace of Mind

I saw a quote recently that said, ‘love is happiness, money is peace of mind.’

It has given me lots to think about which I love – you know I love to think.  There are many ways people can show love and feel love and it doesn’t have to represent a romantic relationship.  It can be anything from being patient or showing consideration.

The 5 Love Languages book talks about different ways people like to show or receive love.  These ways are: gift giving, quality time, physical touch, acts of service (devotion) and words of affirmation.  These also don’t have to mean romance.

I have found it so beneficial to understand that showing love can be simple and can have such a big impact to how I feel in my life.  Wishing someone well, letting go of resentments or jealousy or ill-will. Just don’t give attention to the negative, it is that simple.  This has been huge for allowing me to live more positively so it absolutely brings happiness.

I do feel that what goes hand and hand with happiness, which represents peace of mind, money.  I can admit, I do and have had money anxiety and it truly is hard to feel happiness when anxiety is sitting on your shoulder reminding you of your worries.

Fill your life with love that gives you happiness but enjoy peace of mind by knowing you don’t have to worry about your finances.  That is the goal, isn’t it?

I think if people really understood these two things there would be a lot less heartache in the world.

Recently, at my work there has been lots of discussion around educating youth on finances (and I have been involved with this in the past as well) and this topic has been on my mind.  I don’t think a seminar to students is necessarily appropriate (for adding in the love/happiness piece) except to point out money and financial security provide peace of mind, which ideally would lay that foundation regarding financial success, and overall peace of mind (hello mental health win, am I right?).

Being an INFJ personality type means that “[my] real passion is to get to the heart of the issue so that people need not be rescued at all.”  I would love to see focus and more understanding around love = happiness, money = peace of mind. And the union these two concepts together could elevate happiness.

Then there is the law attraction piece that I could talk about, of feeling peace of mind to attract peace of mind, but that could be a post on its own.  😉

with love / met liefde,

Devon
